New mammography device for medical imaging at St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze

St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze

Our Medical Imaging Department has a new mammography device. This machine is used to examine a woman's breasts for signs of breast cancer or other abnormalities. Its main advantages include:

  • 2D and 3D imaging: the combination enhances the detection of potential abnormalities and also reveals overlapping tissue layers.
  • Speed and comfort: images are taken in 3.7 seconds and the device has rounded compression plates.
  • AI optimisation: these applications optimise images, increasing accuracy and efficiency.
  • EUREF certification: the device meets strict standards for image quality, radiation dose and system stability.
  • Stereotactic biopsy capabilities: abnormalities not visible on ultrasound imaging can be accurately examined and, if necessary, removed under local anaesthetic.

The team is proud of this new addition and looks forward to serving our patients even better with this cutting-edge technology.
