Premiere: Dr Tom Lootens operates on bunion using augmented reality glasses

Yesterday, public broadcaster VRT visited us for a scoop: orthopaedic surgeon Tom Lootens has recently started using augmented reality glasses for operating on ‘hallux valgus’ (deformity of the big toe, where a bony lump forms on the inside of the foot near the toes). The Microsoft HoloLens is a pair of mixed reality glasses that projects data onto the foot of the patient while the surgeon is operating.
