Special delivery from America: Olli 2.0
Yesterday, the electric, self-driving shuttle called Olli 2.0 arrived. It is the first of its kind worldwide. Olli will transfer passengers from the AZ Maria Middelares bus and tram stops to the hospital entrance and back. Everything will be extensively tested in the coming weeks.
What is Olli 2.0?
Olli 2.0 is a second-generation electric, 3D printed, self-driving shuttle bus. Within a geo-fenced zone, the bus can independently and dynamically determine and adjust its route in relation to any detected obstacles. It provides seating for eight passengers and it is wheelchair accessible. Equipped with LIDAR sensors and radar, the shuttle has a 360° view of its surroundings, guaranteeing maximum safety. In the initial phase, a staff member will always be on board to assist passengers in familiarising themselves with the technology.
Planning
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Olli will not be in use in the foreseeable future. More concrete planning to follow
