Studies show that massage therapy has positive effects on polyneuropathy

A recent pilot study shows preliminary positive results from massage therapy. A group of breast cancer patients were monitored to see if patients who received massage therapy experienced any differences as compared to those who did not receive massage therapy. The study shows that the patients who received massage therapy had fewer pain symptoms and reported a higher quality of life.

The integrated Ghent Cancer Centre provides massage therapy as a supplementary service. Patients at the outpatients clinic may receive hand and foot massages any day of the week. Full-body massage is provided three half-days a week to all cancer patients who receive treatment at Maria Middelares.

Both massages are free. Registration is required. Please register with the secretariat of the Oncology and Therapy Day Hospital: +32 (0)9 246 95 22 kankercentrumgent@mijnziekenhuis.be
