Don't forget your electronic identity card (eID) when you visit our hospital
From 1 April 2024, the NIHDI (National Institute for Sickness and Disability Insurance) requires that your electronic identity card (eID) be read (by a card reader) for each (day) admission and each consultation. This applies to patients with Belgian nationality and from the age of 3 months (Kids-ID or ISI+).
Don't have an eID or other valid identity document (with you)? In that case, contact your physician's secretariat or use another valid identification document (e.g. certificate of loss or theft of identity card, a sticky note, Itsme, certificate of social insurance). If you card is not read, your mandatory health insurance will no longer cover the costs and you will therefore pay the bill all by yourself.
