Symptoms and causes

A cyst is a cavity in the jawbone that is filled with fluid and lined with epithelium.

When it originates from a tooth, we refer to an odontogenic cyst. A cyst can also have another origin (traumatic developmental disorder, blocked salivary glands, etc.). In which case, we refer to a non-odontogenic cyst.

Diagnosis and treatment

Diagnosis and treatment

Though usually benign in origin, a cyst can easily spread and cause additional damage. We therefore always remove a cyst.
