Paediatric Multidisciplinary Obesity Centre (PMOC)

The Paediatric Multidisciplinary Obesity Centre (PMOC) at Maria Middelares General Hospital is a centre of expertise that provides counselling for children and teenagers (aged 2 to 17 years) with obesity (overweight) in their lives.

The paediatricians develop a customised programme for each patient, after referral and in close consultation with primary care providers, focusing on a healthy lifestyle. They do this together with the psychologists, dietitians, social workers and physical therapists.

After a multidisciplinary intake, the team proposes a treatment plan to the child and his or her parents, after which they are seen on a regular basis at the Ghent-Bruges Medical Centre for further follow-up and education.
