Palliative care

Our hospital's care does not stop when a geriatric patient is no longer able to recover and the end of life is approaching. Even in this situation, we can still do a great deal for the geriatric patient and his or her family members in terms of medical and nursing care, as well as psychological, social, philosophical and spiritual support. Palliative care is the umbrella term for all of the care given to people approaching the end of life.

Everyone has an opportunity to think about future care. This means that all geriatric patients (including those in non-palliative care) who have questions about the end of life or about whether or not to provide treatment in certain situations can discuss advance-care planning with a care provider. If they wish, they can draft an advance directive.
