Haematology
You can contact our haematologists for abnormalities in the blood, blood-forming organs, bone marrow and lymph nodes.
Approximately 20% entail benign diseases, such as coagulation disorders, anaemia or an increased tendency to thrombosis. 80% are malignant diseases.
The Haematology Department is part of the core team of the Integrated Cancer Centre Ghent (Geintegreerd Kankercentrum Gent, IKG)
.
Examinations by the haematologist
A lot of information can already be found in a blood smear examined under the microscope. Sometimes an additional bone marrow puncture, imaging or gland biopsy may also be needed.
