Postnatal home care

Postnatal home care

Did you know that you can also be supported by midwives after giving birth? You can choose an independent midwife or our own postnatal department. Midwives, who also work in the maternity unit, will visit you at home after your discharge from hospital for medical follow-up of you and your baby. They provide tips and advice in early parenthood and supervise breastfeeding for as long as necessary.

You can make an appointment with them upon discharge from the hospital or by calling the maternity unit.

In addition, every mother is entitled to a number of home visits by a midwife. You do not need a physician's prescription for this. A 'third-party payer' system is used: you do not need to have any money in the house, a vignette from the health insurance company suffices as payment. A kilometre allowance of EUR 0.32 per kilometre will be charged for travel expenses. Some hospitalisation insurance policies also pay for those costs.

Welcoming broken lives

Welcoming broken lives

Most pregnancies proceed normally and usually babies come into the world in perfect health. Unfortunately, on rare occasions things go wrong.

With this brochure, we want to offer you guidance for this difficult process of saying goodbye. Because you are often overwhelmed by emotions once a diagnosis was made until a termination of pregnancy was decided, and therefore many words from counsellors are lost, we have tried to offer support in writing with this brochure as well. That way, you can read up on the care process surrounding termination of pregnancy at this hospital at your leisure before admission.
