Bone plates
- When? Bone plates are used to control the growth of jaws during a growth spurt, but also to enable the movement of specific teeth. For some patients, the orthodontist recommends the use of one or more bone plates.
- What is it? The oral and maxillofacial surgeon installs these plates, thereby ensuring additional orthodontic possibilities. The surgeon installs the bone plates through an incision in the gums.
- How? The entire procedure is performed through the mouth. The bone plates are removed once they are no longer needed.
