Breast asymmetry correction

What is it?

What is it?

Sometimes, breasts exhibit a certain degree of asymmetry after reconstruction. The breast not involved in surgery may, for instance, be substantially larger or smaller than the reconstructed breast. If the former is the case, a symmetrising breast reduction can be performed, and if the latter is the case, a breast enlargement can be performed. If the difference between the breasts is not too large, lipofilling can be used for volume corrections. For this technique, fat is aspirated (from the abdomen or thigh) through liposuction. The fat can then be injected in the breast to eliminate the differences. Small breast disfigurations after a tumourectomy can sometimes be eliminated through lipofilling.
