If the kidneys are no longer functioning properly, it is necessary to treat the patient with an artificial kidney. In that case, we will use a central catheter designed for dialysis to draw and clean the blood and to remove extra fluid.

The most common problems that arise with such a treatment at the Intensive Care Department include: low blood pressure and a lowered cardiac output, allergic reactions and catheter-related infections. There are solutions available for each of these problems.
