Skin biopsy

What is it?

Certain skin disorders require that the skin be examined more deeply. In this case, the dermatologist will take a skin biopsy. Under a local anaesthesic, a small piece of skin is removed. Sutures will be placed afterwards so that only a tiny scar remains. The sample is then examined under the microscope to allow for a precise diagnosis.

Course of the procedure

Taking a skin biopsy is painless: you will only feel a brief sting.
The procedure takes about 15 minutes.
You will receive the results after one week.
