Manual lymphatic drainage
What is it?
What is it?The lymphatic system (lymph vessels and lymph nodes) plays an important role in the creation and maintenance of the ideal living environment for our body's cells. The lymph has a feeding, cleaning and draining function. This draining function is a normal, natural function of our body. This can be made more difficult, however, as a result of an accident, illness or stress. For lymphatic dysfunction, lymph drainage can be optimised manually (with the hands).
Manual lymphatic drainage is a treatment of approximately 30 minutes and is done as a massage that is focussed on stimulating the lymphatic system. This stimulation is necessary to better and more quickly drain the excess fluid (visible and invisible oedema). The treatment can be supplemented with compression therapy and/or bandages.
We only offer this treatment to hospitalised patients.
