Fitness programme

What is it?

What is it?

Are you overweight and would like to slim down? Would you like to live a fitter lifestyle and work on your physical and mental health?

Our 'Fitesse' programme is aimed at (young) adults who choose a healthier lifestyle. Our teams work towards a longer, healthier and more functional life. To help you on your way, you will receive multidisciplinary guidance from the (sports) doctor, a dietitian, a psychologist and a physiotherapist. We want to give you as much info and tips as possible so you can apply them on your own afterwards.

What does our programme involve?

What does our programme involve?

For six months, our multidisciplinary team will help you on your journey toward a healthier lifestyle and lower body weight. The care pathway usually includes the following:

  1. First, you are referred by your (GP) doctor or you sign up on your own initiative. In preparation for an initial interview, you will complete a questionnaire . This allows us to assess any risk factors and get to know your story.
  2. The rehabilitation physician will discuss your questionnaire answers and the programme with you during an intake interview . If the evaluation points to proceeding, the secretariat will book appointments for an intake session and blood will be drawn.
  3. During the multidisciplinary intake session (this is always on a Friday morning), you will be seen by a dietitian, psychologist and physiotherapist. After the intake, all of the care professionals involved will have a consultation. Based on this consultation, the rehabilitation physician will draw up a treatment plan with you:
  • an intake interview with the dietitian
  • at least five follow-up conversations
  • two recorded info sessions forwarded to you
  • an exercise test at the Gentbrugge medical centre and, if necessary, a test on injury prevention
  • group sports twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays
  • an online info session
  • a new exercise test at the medical centre in Gentbrugge and, if necessary, a new test around injury prevention
  • an intake interview with the psychologist
  • at least two follow-up interviews
  • two information sessions at the hospital

The rehabilitation physician will continue to coordinate medical supervision throughout the programme and provide feedback to the referring doctor in case of medical problems.
