Relaxation therapy
What is it?
In today's society, we have an increasing need for relaxation, slowing down and living in the here and now. Every day we experience stress and busyness, there is hardly any time to stop and take a breath.
Relaxation therapy, mindfulness and yoga can help you relax physically and mentally. During a session at Maria Middelares General Hospital, tension and stress are reduced, but the ultimate goal is to be able to relax yourself when necessary or during stressful situations.
- Breathing exercises, exercise, visualisation and meditation exercises are used during relaxation therapy. Because stress is at the root of many mental and physical problems, relaxation therapy has positive effects on many symptoms.
- Yoga stands for calm, balance, strength and endurance. Basically, a healthy mind in a strong body. In addition, you work on healthy breathing, body posture and body awareness and learn to deal with your thoughts in a constructive way (e.g. when worrying or thinking negatively).
- Mindfulness is a way of paying attention, non-judgmentally and in the present moment. It allows you to enjoy small things more, experience less stress, worry less and make more conscious decisions. There are various ways of doing it yourself.
