Administration of oral or intravenous medication

What is it?

What is it?
  • During your stay in intensive care, you may receive medication that you will need to take orally. This is the safest method for administering medication.
  • If medication cannot be taken orally, the medication will be administered intravenously. This can be done using a small vein in the arm or leg. This can also be accomplished using a central vein or, in exceptional cases, using an artery.
