Patients or accident victims who have an urgent medical problem or a life-threatening situation are offered first aid and treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E). In the emergency department, a wide diversity and variety of pathologies are treated by emergency doctors and staff. Children, adults and older people may receive assistance across several specialist medical areas.
