Once on site, you are smoothly guided towards the atrium. The atrium is the beating heart of the hospital. From here, you will be directed to the various departments, check-in and waiting points via 'gates' or access points and clear signage. There is free bicycle parking for visitors in the centre square (between the castle and the hospital).

Public transport doesn't cover all or part of the way to our hospital? If so, you can use customised transport with a Flexbus (based on the former dial-a-ride buses).
You can reserve a seat via www.hoppin.be, the Hoppin app or the Hoppin central hotline at 0800/12.2.12. De Lijn's tickets and fares apply on the Flexbus.
Our stop is called 'Gent AZ Maria Middelares hoofdingang’, in English: Ghent Maria Middelares General Hospital main entrance (Ghent East Region), which is near the lift and stairs to the meeting square in front of the main entrance.
The shuttle service of Maria Middelares General Hospital connects seamlessly with the ‘Gent M. Middelares - Maalte” stop. A shuttle bus leaves every eight minutes, Monday through Friday, 7.30am - 5.30pm.

Parking zones
Take a ticket at the barrier when you enter the car park.
There are six parking zones. As soon as you enter the hospital, there are signs for all the parking zones.

Car park 4 (P4) | Open car park located between the hospital and the convent. |
Car park Meeting Centre | Open parking next to the cloister. From here, you can take a shuttle bus to the hospital (see the blue schedule above). |

You pay your ticket at the vending machines (at the main entrance, tower parking +2, or at the Maria Middelares - Monastery Meeting Centre). You can also pay with bancontact.
Exceptions
- Special price: 10 tickets for €35.00 in the following cases:
- parents (or guardians) of children in the paediatrics and neonatology departments
- admissions for more than 5 nights: starting on day 6, you may make use of the special price
- these ticks are available at the information desk at our reception hall
- parents (or guardians) of children in the paediatrics and neonatology departments
- Individuals with a disability:
- place your handicap card somewhere in the car where it is visible when using a handicap parking spot.
- go to the information desk and show them (a copy of) your card to park free of charge.
- People in a difficult social situation:
- register with the social services department (click here for the contact information)
Reserved parking spaces
- At parking zone 1 (tower parking), there are four reserved handicapped parking spaces on the second level. You will find fast, covered access to the hospital here.
- At parking zone 2, there are two reserved parking spaces for high patient transport.
- In car parking area 3, there are reserved parking spaces for parent-child, senior citizens, dialysis patients and persons with disabilities. These parking spaces are located near the outside lift that takes you directly to the main entrance. Are you being dropped off? You can be dropped off by car nearby this lift and may use the kiss-and-ride parking spaces (max. 15 minutes parking).
Do you need a wheelchair?
Our hospital provides wheelchairs on the second floor of the tower car parking area, in the underground car parking area P3 by the lift and at our entrance hall (at gate A).
The wheelchairs are connected to each other by a chain. You can release one with a €1 coin.
