In 1992, I graduated as a doctor of medicine, surgery and obstetrics and followed the cardiology specialisation for which I obtained my degree in 1998. After an additional two-year course, I was also accredited as an intensivist in 2001. In 1999, I completed theoretical training as a sports doctor. Since 2001, I have been working at AZ Maria Middelares as a cardiologist and intensivist. In 2004, I was appointed guest professor at Hogeschool Gent.
