Personal experience/study visits

You are (or will be this year) 18 years or older and would like to continue studying in the field of healthcare, but you are not sure? Would you like to know what it is really like in a hospital? Then work shadowing in our hospital is just what you need! You will realise very quickly which direction you want to take.

During two or more days, you can soak up the atmosphere of the real work field. Accompanying our staff, you will discover the world of the hospital. Register for free work shadowing with the registration form below. Remember there is a period of about two weeks between application and allocation. Please note: work shadowing is not possible in critical departments (intensive care, A&E, maternity, paediatrics...).

As we receive numerous regular internship requests as part of vocational training, social work placements and reflection days are only possible at St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze.

Would you like to visit the hospital as part of a training/study programme? You can use the form below to apply for a study visit to our hospital.

Some reactions after work shadowing

Some reactions after work shadowing

I have experienced that nursing is more than just providing care. You must work with both your head and your hands, but mainly with your heart. That is the perfect combination as far as I’m concerned.

Work shadowing was very instructive! I already had an idea of the direction I wanted my education to take next year; in my case it was nursing. But after this experience, I decided to study occupational therapy! I am very interested in it. I love it!

The week was very informative and interesting, and I have been welcomed and guided really well. It could have lasted a bit longer, so that I would have had an even better idea of all the tasks to be carried out. You are very close to the patient and that is something I have always been looking for and really want to be able to do in my future job. In any case, I'm really thankful to have had this opportunity; now I understand more than ever what I really want. Thank you again for everything!
