Ritual ablutions and farewell prayer upon death (Muslim community)

We strive to support our patients throughout their care journey, paying particular attention to their personal lives. At the end of a patient's life, our hospitals observe the utmost respect for the patient, their family and their greater community in the most humane way possible.

To ensure the safety and comfort of all, ritual ablutions (ghusl), as prescribed by the Muslim community, may take place at our hospital’s mortuary with groups of no more than ten people in attendance. Depending on specific circumstances (e.g. epidemic), fewer attendees may be allowed.

We have implemented this practical arrangement to respect the limited available space while ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to perform the ritual cleansing in a calm and dignified manner. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

We are unable to organise the farewell prayer on the premises of our hospitals and medical centres for practical reasons.

If you have questions about this or need more information, please reach out to the contact person within your religious community.
